Police Chief Search Timeline

News conference to announce process; first meeting of advisory committee

June 8 - Committee advises Mayor of important qualifications for next Police Chief; Job posted and advertised in major law enforcement publications and web sites

June 21-July 7 - Community meetings to gather input from citizens

July 8 - Deadline for applications

July 9-16 - Committee reviews applications, identifies strengths and weaknesses of candidates

July 19-23 - Advisory committee gives final comments to the Mayor, who will review their work

The goal is select a Police Chief no later than August 1, although the Mayor may move the date if he believes the process needs more time to get the best candidate.
