Cumberland Sidewalks, Bus Stop Affected by UT Construction

Posted: 04/16/2014
April 16, 2014 - A University of Tennessee construction project will require the closure of sidewalks along portions of Cumberland Avenue and 17th Street from April 16 to Aug. 15.

Contractors for the university are working on buildings on the northeast corner of the intersection of Cumberland and 17th. The work will close the sidewalks along the north side of Cumberland from 17th Street east about one-third of the way to 16th Street, and along the east side of 17th Street nearly all the way to White Avenue. Pedestrian detour signs will be posted to provide an alternate route around the construction site.

The closure will also require the temporary relocation of a Knoxville Area Transit bus stop from the northeast corner of 17th and Cumberland to the corner of 18th and Cumberland.
