KUB Closes Lanes on S. Northshore Dr., Sutherland Ave., Union Ave., Clinch Ave., and State St.

Posted: 10/17/2014
October 17, 2014 - KUB will reduce South Northshore Drive to one alternating lane of traffic between Duncan Road and Coachman Lane from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, as work continues on the water distribution system in the area. The southbound lane will be open and used to alternate traffic. Sunday, October 19, will be used as a backup date if necessary.

KUB will reduce Sutherland Avenue to one alternating lane of traffic between Donald Lee Derrickson Avenue and North Concord Street from 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, as work is completed on the water distribution system in the area. The eastbound lane will be open and used to alternate traffic.

KUB and its contractor, Garney Construction, will close a section Union Avenue and Clinch Avenue between the South Gay Street and State Street, and reduce State Street to one lane between Clinch Avenue and Union Avenue, starting on Monday, October 20, and lasting through Friday, November 14, as work continues on the Downtown Century II multiple utilities upgrade project. State Street remains closed to traffic between the Promenade Parking Garage and Commerce Avenue. There will be no curbside parking available along State Street. Motorist wishing to access the Promenade Garage are recommended to follow South Central Street to Union Avenue. Customers will be able to enter and exit the Promenade Garage in the usual manner via the south booth (closest to the Union Avenue intersection). Exiting traffic will be required to turn right onto State Street, and then make a left turn on to Union Avenue (see attached map). Additionally, S. Central Street will be bidirectional between Commerce Avenue and Union Avenue. These activities will take place over the course of the day, Monday, October 20. Some night and weekend work may be required to meet project milestone dates. As work areas shift, follow up advisories will be issued.

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at this location to assist motorists traveling in the area. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use extreme caution and expect temporary delays in this area.
