Work Begins on Cross Park Drive Improvements

Posted: 09/17/2014
September 17, 2014 - The City of Knoxville entered into a contract with Twin K Construction, Inc. for $3,735,868.30 for the construction of the Cross Park Drive Drainage Improvements Project.

"This project will help reduce chronic roadway flooding that frequently disrupts traffic flow and inconveniences the public," said Jim Hagerman, the City's director of engineering.

The project length is over 3,200 linear feet and includes roadway, channel and culvert upgrades from Park Village Road to the creek crossing between Cross Creek Road and Bridgewater Road.

Coordination for the drainage improvements will consist of Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) for culvert and ditch construction, West Knoxville Utility District -water and sewer, Lenoir City Utility District- electric, AT&T local and long distance service as well as Colonial pipeline.

Road closures with detours will be required for park Village Road, Cross Park Drive and Cross Creek Road, as well as minor driveways to complete the project.

The construction contract has a 270 day duration. Work began in late July and completion is anticipated for April 2015.
