Knoxville will honor the service of its U.S. military veterans with the City’s 91st annual Veterans Day Parade on Friday morning, Nov. 11, 2016.

The parade will line up in the eastbound lanes of Howard H. Baker Jr. Avenue, with the step-off at 10:45 a.m. in front of the Knoxville Civic Coliseum. The parade participants will head up Howard Baker Avenue to Church Avenue, then turn right and follow Gay Street to Depot Avenue.

At 11 a.m., all parade participants will halt and face west while honors are carried out in front of the viewing stand for veterans who served in the U.S. armed forces in all our nation's wars.

The parade is sponsored by the City of Knoxville and American Legion Post 2.

Anticipate some road closures to accommodate the parade, starting with the closure of the eastbound lanes on Howard Baker Avenue between Hill Avenue and Hall of Fame Drive at 8:30 a.m. The rolling street closures will follow the length of the parade route. At 9 a.m., Market Street between Union and Clinch avenues also will be closed, as will Union Avenue between Walnut and Gay streets.

There also will be some temporary no-parking zones along sections of Church Avenue, Gay Street, Wall Avenue, Market Street and Union Avenue. The bike corral on Gay Street will be removed temporarily for the Nov. 11 parade.

In addition, the decorative deck lights on the Henley Bridge will be changed to red, white and blue on the night of Nov. 11, in honor of the service of U.S. military veterans.
