VIDA (Volunteer Immigrant Defense Advocates)
There are areas in the United States with large immigrant populations but few free or low cost immigration service providers.  VIDA was created to connect these communities with volunteer attorneys who may be able to assist in various immigration matters, particularly representation before the immigration courts, which are often several hours away from underserved areas where immigrants live.  VIDA can function because of private attorneys' dedication to the community they serve and their willingness to take pro bono cases for individuals who would not otherwise be able to afford legal representation.
