City Services Schedule for MLK Holiday 2016

Posted: 01/15/2016
Waste Connections, the City of Knoxville's household garbage and recycling collector, will be open Monday, Jan. 18, for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

All trash and recycling collections will follow Waste Connections’ regular schedule on Monday, Jan. 18. Crews will run normal pickup routes all week.

“In an effort to provide better service to our customers, trash and recycling collection will run continuously with the exception of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays,” said City Solid Waste Manager Rachel Butzler.

The City's recycling centers will be open for recycling use on Monday, but the Goodwill Industries attendant will not be available to accept donations of household goods on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

The City's Solid Waste Management Facility, 1033 Elm St., will be closed from Saturday, Jan. 16, through Monday, Jan. 18.

City of Knoxville offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
