KUB Lane Closures on Walnut St. and Clinch Ave. Jan. 11-Feb. 8

http://downtowncentury2project.blogspot.comDue to the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project, there will be lane closures on Walnut St Jan. 12-Feb. 5 and Clinch Ave. Jan. 11-Feb. 8.

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Walnut Street Lane Closure [January 12 – February 5] – KUB and its contractor will implement a closure of the northbound lane of Walnut Street between Wall Avenue and Union Avenue from 6 a.m., Tuesday, January 12, until 6 p.m., Friday, February 5, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Southbound traffic will be permitted on Walnut Street. Only right hand (northbound) turns from Wall Avenue on to Walnut Street will be permitted for the first week of the closure for the safety of crews and motorists. Parking garage access will be maintained on to the Market Square Garage, with a possible one day closure of the Walnut Street entrance to be scheduled during this time frame.

The following closure also remains in place:   
• Walnut Street between Cumberland Avenue and Main Street – lane closure through January 29. One lane of northbound traffic remains open. 

Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary. Please see attached map for more detailed traffic information. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Clinch Avenue Road Closures [January 11 – February 8] –As progress on Clinch Avenue continues westward, KUB and its contractor will close Clinch Avenue between Locust Street and Henley Street from 6 a.m., Monday, January 11, until 6 p.m., Monday, February 8, work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Some work will occur in the Clinch Avenue/Locust Street intersection, but traffic flow will be maintained around the wok zone.

The following closure also remains in place:   
•  Clinch Avenue between Market Street and Locust Street – closed from 6 a.m. Monday, January 4, until 6 p.m. Friday, January 22. Some work will occur in the Clinch Avenue/Walnut Street intersection, but traffic flow will be maintained around the wok zone.
 
Should construction conditions warrant the closure of the intersections, a follow-up advisory will be issued. Alternate routes include S. Gay Street, Cumberland Avenue, Walnut Street, and Union Avenue. Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary. Please see attached map for more detailed traffic information. KUB and its contractor will make every effort to reopen at least one lane of traffic in construction zones on weekends and holidays, construction conditions and safety permitting.   

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
