KUB Natural Gas Work Starting at Morgan Circle, UT Rugby Field, and Third Creek Greenway

Posted: 10/04/2016
Starting Wednesday, October 5, Knoxville Utilities Board will perform work on the natural gas system near Morgan Circle, Third Creek Greenway, and the University of Tennessee Rugby Field. The work will occur daily between 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., and is expected to be completed by Saturday, October 8 (weather permitting).

Area residents, greenway users, and campus visitors will notice KUB employees and associated construction equipment in the area as this work is performed. The possibility also exists for those in the immediate area to notice a mild presence of the "rotten egg" odor in the air as a result of this repair process, but bystanders should always remain alert for any worsening or persistent natural gas odors. The Third Creek Greenway will remain open in this area; however, there may be brief periods of limited access as KUB crews use the pathway to move vehicles and equipment to and from the worksite. Greenway users are advised to use caution and be mindful of KUB employees, contractors, and vehicles in the area. Additionally, access to the nearby shopping center will be maintained, and no natural gas service interruptions will be required in the area as part of this work.

KUB thanks the University of Tennessee and City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation for their assistance with this project, and its customers for their cooperation. Customers with questions or concerns can call 558-2330 after normal business hours to leave a message that will be followed-up with a call from a KUB representative by the end of the next business day.
