(Old City) Williams Street Road Closure [February 13] – KUB crews will close a short section of Williams Street between Common Avenue and W. Depot Avenue from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Saturday, February, 13, as work is performed on both the natural gas and water distribution systems, as well as the wastewater collection system in the area. Alternate routes include W. Depot Avenue, W. Magnolia Avenue, Common Avenue, and Ogden Street. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.
(Old City) W. Depot Avenue Road Closure [February 14] – KUB crews will close a short section of W. Depot Avenue between Odgen Street and Williams Street from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Sunday, February, 14, as work is performed on both the water distribution and wastewater collection systems in the area. Alternate routes include Ogden Street, Williams Street, and W. Magnolia Avenue. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.
(West Knoxville) Lyons View Pike Lane Closure [February 15] – KUB’s paving contractor will reduce a short section of Lyons View Pike to one alternating lane of traffic between Cherokee Country Club at 5138 Lyons View Pike and Harley Road from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Monday, February 15, for repaving. The westbound lane will be closed while the eastbound lane will remain open to alternate traffic. Flagmen will be on site to assist with traffic control. Tuesday, February 16, will be used as a rain date if necessary.
Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Cumberland Avenue/Main Street Lane Closure [RESCHEDULED February 15] – Due to weather, this work has been rescheduled. KUB and its contractor will implement a lane closure of the eastbound, curbside lane of Cumberland Avenue/Main Street between Eleventh Street and Henley Street from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., on Monday, February 15, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Walnut Street Road Closure [EXTENDED February 15] – Due to weather, this work has been extended. KUB and its contractor will maintain a closure of a small section of Walnut Street at the Union Avenue intersection until 6 p.m., Monday, February 15, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project. All parking garages on Walnut Street between Summer Place and Union Avenue can be accessed via southbound Walnut Street. Union Avenue between Walnut Street and Locust Street has been reopened during this closure as a detour route, but will be reclosed starting at 6 a.m., Tuesday, February 16. Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade Project – Henley Street/ Clinch Avenue Lane Closures [February 15-29] – KUB and its contractor will implement progressive lane closures of Henley Street at the Clinch Avenue intersection from Monday, February 15, through Monday, February 29, as work continues on the Downtown Century II Utilities Upgrade project. Crews will begin work in the northbound lanes, working west across the intersection into the southbound lanes. A minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained during this work. Work hours with lane closures will be from 6 p.m. – 6 a.m., with occasional lane closures for prep-work taking place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. as necessary. Clinch Avenue between Locust Street and Henley Street will remain closed until work is finished in the easternmost northbound lanes of Henley Street. Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary.
(North Knoxville) Washington Avenue Road Closure [UPDATED - February 15 – March 4] – KUB and its contractor will close a short section of Washington Avenue between N. Sixth Avenue and Mitchell Street from 7 a.m., Monday, February 15, until 5 p.m., Friday, March 4, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. Due to construction limitations, this section of roadway will NOT be reopened overnight and on weekends during this time. Traffic will be detoured via Mitchell Street, Ninth Avenue, Gillespie Ave, and N. Sixth Avenue. Follow up advisories will be issued as necessary.
Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures, including flagmen, will be in place at this location to assist motorists traveling in the area. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in this area.
