Motorists traveling in Knox County should be aware of lane closures taking place on Kingston Pike (State Route 1) in the upcoming weeks.
Starting Sunday, August 21st, crews will be working to complete a safety resurfacing project on Kingston Pike (State Route 1) between Neyland Drive and Towanda Trail.
This work will be completed Sunday nights through Friday mornings, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., in an effort to mitigate the safety risks associated with high traffic volumes that take place during normal business hours. This weekly schedule will be in place through Friday, September 30th.
There will be no resurfacing activities on Thursday, September 1st, the night of Tennessee’s season opening home football game against Appalachian State.
Motorists can expect reduced speed limits, stagnant traffic, increased travel times and reduced lane widths in this area through the duration of this project. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution in this area as workers will often be present.
