KUB Lane Closures on Union Ave.and State St.

Posted: 04/16/2018
Due to utility maintenance, KUB will have lane closures on Union Avenue on April 17 and on State Street April 17-20, 2018.

(Downtown Knoxville) Union Avenue Lane Closure [April 17] – KUB crews will close the on-street parking on a short section of Union Avenue between Market Street and Walnut Street from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Tuesday, April 17, as work is performed on the natural gas distribution system in the area. The on-street parking will be closed, while the lane of eastbound traffic will remain open. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control.

(Downtown Knoxville) State Street Road Closure [Overnight, April 17-18, 19-20] – KUB crews will implement a road closure on State Street between Cumberland Avenue and W. Church overnight from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., overnight Tuesday, April 17 through Wednesday morning, April 18, and again overnight Thursday, April 19, through Friday morning, April 20, to allow safe access to manholes. Access to local businesses will be maintained, and flaggers and signs will be on site to assist with traffic control. Additional routes include Cumberland Avenue, S. Gay Street, W. Church Avenue, and Union Avenue. This traffic control plan will need to be implemented several times in the coming weeks to complete work, and additional advisories will be issued.

Some listed closures may extend beyond the scheduled times depending on the conditions encountered during excavation and construction. Appropriate traffic control measures will be in place at each location to assist motorists traveling in these areas. Due to the ongoing presence of workers and equipment, motorists are advised to use caution and expect temporary delays in these areas.
