Fatal overnight shooting on S. Hall of Fame Drive

Victim Identified from Fatal Shooting on Hall of Fame Drive (September 14, 2020, 12:40 p.m.)

The victim from the fatal shooting that occurred on the night of September 12, 2020 has been identified as Lizarrius Rice, 24, of Chattanooga, Tennessee. The investigation remains ongoing and there is no further information at this time. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to call the KPD Violent Crimes Unit at 865-215-7317.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting with victims at 100 S. Hall of Fame Drive. Upon arrival, two male victims were located suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries after being transported from the scene. The second victim is in stable condition at the UT Medical Center. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators and Crime Lab personnel responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which remains ongoing. There are no suspects in custody at this time.
