Downtown Parking Tip Sheet: Oct. 26
This is part of a weekly blog series posted by the City’s communication team to help keep you in-the-know about downtown events and best parking practices.
Starting Monday, Oct. 29, the State Street Garage construction project to add two new decks and 570 parking spaces begins accelerating, and S. Central Street between Union and Clinch avenues will be closed to traffic. That means, if you use S. Central Street to reach points south of Union, like First Presbyterian Church or the Dwight Kessel Garage, your best alternative route is via Hall of Fame Drive to Hill Ave or Gay Street.
By the end of that week, a large crane will arrive and be set in place. On Monday, Nov. 5, the real work starts: The crane begins hoisting large slabs of prefabricated concrete decks as the parking additions are set in place.
