Downtown Parking Tip Sheet: Jan. 4
Happy New Year! It’s 2019, and the landscape of downtown parking looks only slightly different from last year.
Construction continues on the State Street Garage, reducing available parking spaces for the time being but ultimately adding 570 parking spaces to the garage by next summer. South Central Street remains closed to through traffic, although there is a detour that will guide drivers around the closure.
Downtown visitors are encouraged to use available resources, like the
Parkopedia app
or
DowntownKnox.org/parking
to find the many downtown lots, garages and on-street spaces that are free after 6 p.m. and/or on weekends. Garages include the Dwight Kessel, Locust Street, Market Square, Langley/Summer Place, City County Building and Main Street garages.
