Holidays on Ice 2019 Wrap Up
Holidays on Ice 2019 Wrap Up
The holiday season may already feel like a distant memory, but it's not too late to share some stats from the 2019 season of Holidays on Ice.
The open-air ice rink saw 15,613 total guests between Nov. 29, 2019, and Jan. 5, 2020.
This is a notable increase from the 14,141 guests who skated at the rink in 2018, when the season was a week longer.
To what factors do ice rink managers attribute the difference?
“This year was the first time we ever had over 1,000 skaters in one night,” says Elaine Frank of the City Office of Special Events. “That happened more than one night this year, which is exciting.”
Opening day of the rink, which corresponded with the City’s Celebration of Lights event, was one of those days that attendance reached over 1,000 skaters.
The Monday nights when Ice Bears players hit the ice with other skaters were as popular as ever.
Significant rainfall closed the rink on a few occasions this season, but the chance of precipitation during Holiday on Ice season is a chance worth taking for the unbeatable atmosphere of the open-air rink.
