Fourth of July Seminole Avenue shooting; Suspect in custody
On Saturday, July 4 at around 9:50 p.m., officers responded to a shooting that had occurred in the 2000 block of Seminole Avenue. Based on witness statements and the preliminary investigation, it appears that the victim, Bobby Davis, and the suspect, who has been identified as 28-year-old Brandon Jamal McCaleb, were at a residence on Seminole Avenue shooting fireworks. At some point, there was an argument, McCaleb retrieved a gun and shot Davis. The suspect then left the scene, while Davis was transported to the UT Medical Center in a personal vehicle. Davis had been in stable condition and was expected to survive his injuries, but passed away on Wednesday night. It is unknown if the victim died as a result of the shooting or other unknown complications. A warrant was issued for McCaleb for aggravated assault. The charges could be upgraded as the investigation proceeds and a determination is made concerning the manner of death.

On Thursday, July 9 at around 10 p.m., officers with the Violence Reduction Team and the Organized Crime Unit alongside members of the U.S. Marshals Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force located and took McCaleb into custody at the Northridge Crossing Apartments in the 3900 block of Tiberius Road. He has been booked into the Knox County Detention Center.
