#KnoxvilleJobWellDone: Horticulture Crews Add Year-Round Color to Flower Beds
Over a few weeks, City horticulture crews planted 8,144 brightly-colored annuals in public flower beds across the city.
They'll do it again in the fall, replacing played-out summer seasonal flowers with cool-weather tulips and pansies. Combined, about 16,000 annuals are planted by City crews each year.
The annuals complement a mix of perennials, and the aim is to make neighborhood entrances, medians and other public landscaped areas welcoming and colorful year-round.
Here are a few photos of City employees planting the spring annuals:
Nick Weaver waters newly transplanted annuals to help them acclimate.
Adam Miller and Elie Muncey mulch the new plantings.
Check out the fresh new look at Cradle of Country Music Park downtown.
Mark Dills uses an auger to expedite the planting of thousands of annuals.
