Fatal Shooting at Holston Oaks Apartments
Victim from Shooting at Holston Oaks Apartments Identified
The victim from the fatal shooting that occurred at the Holston Oaks Apartment complex on Wednesday, July 28 has been identified as Martaysha Flack, 20 of Knoxville, Tennessee. No suspects have been identified or charged in connection to the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
Major Crimes Unit investigators are continuing to seek any information from the public that could potentially assist their investigative efforts. Tips can be submitted anonymously by phone at 1-800-222-8477, online at

At around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting with a victim at the Holston Oaks Apartments located at 1819 Riverside Drive. Upon arrival at the scene, a female victim was found inside of a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from at least one apparent gunshot, while a male victim was also located on scene suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the male victim was transported to the UT Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Major Crimes Unit investigators, Crime Lab personnel and the Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene to begin the investigation, which is in the preliminary stages. There are no suspects in custody and no suspect information is available at this time.
