Congratulations to KPD's New...
Congratulations to KPD's Newly Promoted Officers!
In a joyful March 8 ceremony, seven Knoxville Police Department officers were promoted.
Congratulations to new Assistant Chief David Powell, Deputy Chief Brian Evans, Capt. Chris McCarter, Lts. Shawn Shreve and Donald Zerillo, and Sgts. Stephen Henderson and Steve Taylor.
Mayor Indya Kincannon and Police Chief Paul Noel praised the officers' dedication, hard work, and years of service.
The City and KPD embrace team-building, cooperation, selflessness, and effort. The promotions demonstrate that the Mayor and Chief share those priorities.
"The officers being promoted today have exhibited the qualities that we value," Noel said. "They are high character individuals. They have shown the ability and willingness to function in a team environment, because that is what KPD leadership is about."
Mayor Kincannon emphasized: Merit is rewarded. Teamwork is valued. Character is critically important.
"I am incredibly proud of the Knoxville Police Department - the men and women who keep us safe 24/7/365," Kincannon said.
She told the officers being promoted: "We've got your back, and we're really grateful for all the work that you're about to take on."
