Diversity Business Advisory ...
Diversity Business Advisory Committee Welcomes 5 New Members
This week, the Diversity Business Advisory Committee met with Mayor Madeline Rogero and discussed strategies for reaching out to owners and managers of companies owned by minorities, women and service-disabled veterans who are interested in doing business with the City.
The committee's purpose is to advise City officials on ways to increase opportunities for Diversity Business Enterprises (DBEs) to grow and prosper.
The City each year awards contracts for goods and services totaling about $50 million, and roughly 1 in 3 City dollars spent in competitively bid contracts were awarded to small businesses in the last fiscal year.
The Diversity Business Advisory Committee meets every other month, and five new members have joined the committee. The Jan. 9 meeting was their first, and Mayor Rogero welcomed their perspectives and ideas.
