Residents give KCDC officials, Gerdau managers and Mayor Madeline Rogero a tour of the Lonsdale Homes community, specifically looking for a site for a children's playground.

Zenobia Dobson and other Lonsdale Homes residents led a tour earlier this week and shared their ideas for ways to increase children's recreational activities in the neighborhood, starting with a children's playground.

Touring with residents were Art Cate, Executive Director of Knoxville's Community Development Corp., a team of Gerdau managers, Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and City Senior Director of Community Relations Avice Reid.

Ms. Dobson presented Mayor Rogero with a hefty folder containing a survey of residents on the need for recreational activities for the children.

Thanks to Ms. Dobson for organizing the tour and to KCDC and Gerdau for their commitment to creating new opportunities for the children of Lonsdale Homes.

Looking forward to working with community partners to help create play spaces for Lonsdale's children!

The tour included discussions of where a potential playground could be constructed.

Community leader Zenobia Dobson, center, gives Mayor Rogero detailed surveys and comments she collected from dozens of her Lonsdale neighbors. Community leaders are working to create new recreational activities for the neighborhood's children.
