Second Open Streets Knoxville Set for May 15 - Come Play in the Street!
The second Open Streets Knoxville street fair will be held May 15 - mark your calendar!

Mark your calendar: The second Open Streets Knoxville street fair will be held on Sunday, May 15.

“Last year’s debut of Open Streets Knoxville was exciting," said Mayor Madeline Rogero. "Thousands of participants discovered a fun, new way to appreciate and enjoy one of our urban corridors. North Central Street is a perfect venue for a spring repeat."

The second installment of Open Streets Knoxville is scheduled from 1-6 p.m. on May 15. No motorized traffic will be allowed on the Central Street route during that time. (However, cars can cross Central Street at four intersections: Baxter, Broadway, Fifth and Magnolia.)

So what is Open Streets Knoxville? Think of it as turning Central Street into a mile-long pop-up park, allowing people to safely walk, bike, dance, play, shop and create art in the street. It's free and open to people of all ages and abilities. Open Streets Knoxville combines physical activity with community engagement to build support for more and safer transportation choices. There will be free games, classes, music and exercise activities.

Open Streets Knoxville is part of the global Open Streets Project, which aims to seek innovative ways for cities to achieve environmental, social, economic and public health goals.
