Before the sun came up Thursday, the house was already full at Holly's Gourmet Market & Cafe in Bearden. The restaurant was the site for a live taping of National Public Radio's "The View From Here," with NPR Morning Edition co-host Steve Inskeep.
Mayor Madeline Rogero was interviewed during the show, which explored views of Knoxville's (and Appalachia's) needs and priorities heading into the 2016 national elections. An earlier interview with Gov. Bill Haslam also was part of the NPR report.
A big turnout of about 140 people listened at Holly's as the show was broadcast live nationally. During a follow-up segment, audience members were invited to post questions to Inskeep and Mayor Rogero.
