City Moves Forward on New Segment of First Creek Greenway
Map illustrating future segment of First Creek Greenway

City Council on Tuesday authorized Mayor Madeline Rogero to execute a contract with Wilson Construction Group for construction of a segment of First Creek Greenway that will connect Fulton High School to Edgewood Park in North Knoxville.

The 0.6-mile greenway segment will begin at the intersection of N. Broadway and E. Woodland Avenue near Fulton High School and will terminate in Edgewood Park at Acker Street.

The $1.2 million project was largely funded through a Tennessee Department of Transportation Enhancement Grant, with the City of Knoxville paying a 20 percent match.

This segment of First Creek Greenway was referenced in the recent Greenways Feasibility Study released in August 2016 as a primary point of connection for ultimately linking Fountain City to Knoxville’s existing downtown greenway system.

Construction is slated for completion in late 2017. To learn more about the City’s greenway system, please visit www.knoxvilletn.gov/greenways.
