Downtown Trolley Super Stop ...
Downtown Trolley Super Stop Upgrades: New Shelters, Signs on Main Street
Last weekend, Knoxville Area Transit's maintenance crew installed new shelters on Main Street, in front of the City County Building, for downtown trolley passengers. The City's Engineering Department put up the distinctive red and yellow Knoxville Trolley signs.
The Trolley Super Stop is the central location where passengers can make connections between KAT's three trolley routes. The trolleys are timed to arrive at and depart from the Super Stop to allow for immediate transfers or transfers with minimal waits.
KAT's Green Line services downtown proper and Market Square, running the length of Gay Street from Main Street to Summit Hill Drive. The route also loops through the Old City.
The Blue Line carries passengers along Hill Avenue and Howard Baker Jr. Avenue back through downtown on Church Avenue, connecting with the Knoxville Civic Auditorium and Coliseum, parking garages, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and KAT's Knoxville Station, as well as a walkway to Volunteer Landing.
The Orange Line gets passengers to and from the University of Tennessee, University Commons and World's Fair Park.

And by the way - don't be surprised if you're riding a trolley today or Saturday and someone from Norway or New Zealand is sitting next to you. Remember, the Big Ears Music Festival is happening, and the free trolley is a great way to get from one venue to another.
