Before and After: South Central Street Fence Project
In April, as part of the City's South Central Street Fence Project, South East Mowing, LLC crews tore down approximately 1,900 linear feet of old, rusted chain-link fencing along Central between the intersections at Union Ave and Cumberland Ave. They replaced--and in some cases relocated--the fencing with black plastic fencing similar to that used in the Pet-Safe Dog Park further down the block at the corner of Central and Summit Hill.

As you can see in the before and after photos below, new black fencing created a cleaner, more streamlined appearance. And where the fence has been relocated closer to James White Parkway, there is more open green space and opportunity for pedestrians to enjoy the trees.

The Central Street fence project, in conjunction with the James White Parkway Guardrail Project, is one of the City of Knoxville's Engineering department's Capital Improvement Projects
