Meeting Aug. 18 for Developers Interested in Sanitary Laundry Building
Interested in redeveloping a piece of history? Knoxville’s Community Development Corp. (KCDC) is soliciting proposals for the development of the old Sanitary Laundry Building at 625 N. Broadway.
There will be an informational pre-bid meeting for any interested parties at
9 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18
, at KCDC’s office, 901 N. Broadway. Bids are due by Thursday, Sept. 3.
The former industrial structure dates from 1925, and the City of Knoxville acquired it in tax foreclosure last year as part of the Downtown North Redevelopment Area. It is a designated brownfield and has had full evaluation for asbestos and soil contaminants. The results of those evaluations are posted as part of the
bid package on KCDC’s website
.
The building was listed as one of Knox Heritage's "Fragile 15" for 2015. You can
read more about it
there.
