Lots of Great Discussion, Information Shared During Tuesday's East Knoxville Walking Tour
From left: Former Mayor Daniel Brown, resident Martha Thompson and Mayor Rogero talk during Tuesday's East Knoxville walking tour.

Big turnout for Tuesday evening's East Knoxville neighborhood walking tour, sponsored by Bike Walk Knoxville, 5 Points Up and the Knox County Health Department. Great to talk with lots of residents, who shared their ideas on how to best improve the pedestrian experience in East Knoxville!

The mile-long walk began at Jackie’s Dream restaurant, 2223 McCalla Ave., and included discussions along the way - at the Dollar General store, the Boys and Girls Club, Dr. Walter Hardy Park, Vine Middle School, and a pretty sunflower garden and a community vegetable garden.

City Council members Daniel Brown, Marshall Stair and George Wallace joined the walk, as did newly elected County Commissioner Evelyn Gill, City department heads and Public Service Department managers, representatives of a range of non-profit groups, Health Department officials, recreation advocates, and faith and community leaders.

Big turnout for Aug. 9 walking tour of East Knoxville.

Good discussion at Dr. Walter Hardy Park - and a refreshing shade break during a summertime walk.

About 60 people participated in the Aug. 9 walk, organized by Bike Walk Knoxville, 5 Points Up and the Knox County Health Department.
