Update on fatal overnight shooting at Southland Apartments

At around 12:44 a.m. on Friday, January 24, KPD officers responded to a shooting at the Southland Apartments located at 3513 Sevier Avenue. The caller stated that a male had been shot in the kitchen inside of one of the residences. Upon arrival, officers located a 26-year-old male deceased from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim has been identified as Dessie Seaton IV from Detroit, Michigan.

The circumstances of the shooting are unknown at this time as the Violent Crimes Unit is in the preliminary stages of its investigation. No further information is available at this time.
