Pursuit and fatal crash at W. Emory and Clinton Highway
At approximately 6:08 p.m. on Monday, April 13, Knoxville Police Department officers attempted to stop a vehicle in the Western Heights area. The occupants were suspected for the shooting that occurred on Keith Avenue on the night of Tuesday, April 7. The suspect vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated. The pursuit continued until the suspect vehicle crashed near the intersection of W. Emory Road and Clinton Highway. The male driver of the suspect vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the female occupant was transported to the UT Medical Center with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect vehicle struck a second vehicle in the crash. The lone occupant, an adult female, was transported to Tennova North with minor injuries.
No KPD officers were injured in the pursuit.
Due to the crash occurring outside of KPD jurisdiction, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting the investigation and handle any follow-up inquiries.
