Fatal stabbing at 418 N. Broadway; suspect charged
UPDATE (May 18, 2020, 9:20 a.m.): The victim from the fatal stabbing that occurred at 418 N. Broadway on Friday, May 15 has been identified as 48-year-old Eric Yorker.

At approximately 3:20 p.m. on Friday, May 15, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to 418 N. Broadway in reference to a stabbing. A male victim was transported to the UT Medical Center in critical condition and later pronounced deceased. The suspect, 67-year-old Ralph Atkins, was detained by officers at the scene. Atkins has been charged with Second Degree Murder and booked into the Knox County Detention Center. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and the Violent Crimes Unit is proceeding in its investigation.
