On Sunday, August 16 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a robbery at the Family Dollar located at 1015 Heiskell Avenue. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a store employee, who stated that a white male had entered the store and demanded money after pulling a firearm from his backpack. After the victim was unable to open the register, the suspect demanded the victim’s car keys. After obtaining the keys, the suspect exited the store and fled the scene eastbound on Heiskell Avenue in the victim’s maroon Ford Taurus.
Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the vehicle a short time later and attempted to stop it, but it fled from deputies. The vehicle was eventually found off Beaver Creek Drive and the suspect, Desteryn Arnold (DOB 6/29/89), was taken into custody. Arnold was charged with Aggravated Robbery and Evading Arrest.
