At around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2020, a complainant at Morningside Gardens Apartments on McCalla Avenue stated that he heard a gunshot outside of his window and saw a white vehicle leave the parking lot at a high rate of speed. The complainant then got into his vehicle, called 9-1-1 and pursued the vehicle, which continued to flee westbound.
A short time later, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the area of I-40 West near Papermill Drive in reference to the shooting suspect that was being following by the complainant from McCalla Avenue. Officers initiated a traffic stop on the suspect on I-40 West near West Hills. The suspect, traveling in a white Dodge Avenger, refused to stop and continued to flee west on I-40 before exiting at Cedar Bluff. Officers continued pursuit until the suspect voluntarily stopped at the Weigel’s located at 328 N. Cedar Bluff Road. The suspect, identified as Treavor Warren (DOB 11/10/72), was taken into custody without incident.
A K-9 unit was called to the scene to conduct a sniff and alerted positive on the vehicle. Numerous narcotics were found during the subsequent search of the vehicle. Records also showed that the suspect had a revoked license from a DUI in 2017. Warren was arrested and charged with schedule II, IV and VI drug violations, evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.
A crime scene was not located at McCalla Avenue, nor were any gunshot victims located.
