Monthly Child Safety Seat Checkpoint Set for Saturday, August 7  
UPDATE (Tuesday, August 3): Due to the recently issued mask requirement at city-owned facilities, those attending the checkpoint are asked to wear a mask regardless of their vaccination status. Additionally, those who are sick, have potentially been exposed to COVID-19, or are experiencing symptoms of the virus are asked to not attend the checkpoint.

The Knoxville Police Department will host its monthly Child Safety Seat Checkpoint on Saturday, August 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 917 E. Fifth Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee.    

The KPD will resume normal operations for this month’s Checkpoint, as checks will be available by pre-scheduled appointment or drive-up on the day of the event. The Child Safety Seat Checkpoints are completely free of charge service offered by the KPD for parents, grandparents or other guardians. During the Checkpoint, child car seats are inspected by a certified car seat technician to ensure proper use and installation. Additionally, car seat technicians provide valuable safety tips and recommendations for those utilizing child safety seats. The Checkpoints are led by KPD personnel who have completed the 32-hour Child Passenger Safety Technician Standardized Training.   

Those attending the Checkpoint who are not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 are asked to wear appropriate face covering. Those who are sick, have potentially been exposed to COVID-19, or are currently experiencing symptoms of the virus are asked to stay home.
