UPDATE #2: Vincent Morrison Arrested in Ramona, California

On Tuesday, September 7, Vincent Morrison was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force in Ramona, California. Morrison, 31 of Maryville, Tennessee, was sought on an outstanding warrant for second degree murder stemming from the fatal shooting of 43-year-old Aisha Cates in Walter P. Taylor Homes on August 22. Morrison, who was located with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Smokey Mountain Fugitive Task Force, will be extradited back to Knox County imminently. 

UPDATE: Suspect Sought for Murder of Aisha Cates

Knoxville Police Department Major Crimes Unit investigators have identified Vincent Morrison, 31 of Maryville, Tennessee, as the suspect from the fatal shooting of Aisha Cates on Sunday, August 22 in Walter P. Taylor Homes. Investigators have obtained a warrant charging Morrison with second degree murder. In addition to that charge, Morrison also has outstanding warrants for aggravated assault and vandalism from an incident on March 5, 2021, when he shot at his fiancé. Morrison, who is not in custody at this time, is known to travel between Knoxville, Chattanooga and Atlanta. Shooting in Walter P. Taylor Homes 
 
At around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2021, KPD officers responded to the area of McConnell Street and MLK Jr. Avenue for a shooting with a victim. Upon arrival, a female victim was found unresponsive beside a vehicle and suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. The victim has been identified as Aisha Cates, 43 of Knoxville, Tennessee.  
 
Witnesses stated that an occupant of a vehicle of unknown make and model fired a shot and fled the area at a high rate of speed. No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
