Pedestrian Hit and Killed on...
Pedestrian Hit and Killed on I-40 West on Thursday Morning
Knoxville Police Department Crash Reconstruction personnel are investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early Thursday morning on I-40 West near Strawberry Plains Pike.
At around 5:30 a.m. this morning, KPD officers were dispatched to investigate a report that a person was on the interstate at I-40 West near Strawberry Plains Pike. While officers were responding to that area, a driver called to report that he had hit something on the interstate and pulled over near the Strawberry Plains Pike exit to wait for officer arrival. After arriving on scene, officers searched the area and located the female victim in the median. The victim, a 34-year-old female, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medical Examiner’s Office and KPD Crime Lab personnel responded to the scene. At this time, the crash remains under active investigation by Crash Reconstruction investigators.
