Teen Suspect Charged in Death of J’Michael Dossett (November 5, 2021, 4:30 p.m.)
A 16-year-old male has been charged in the death of J’Michael Dossett, who was fatally shot and killed at 4115 Catalpa Avenue on Sunday, October 31.
The investigation into Dossett’s death, which is being led by KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators, revealed that the suspect and Dossett were at a gathering when an argument occurred. The argument escalated, the suspect shot Dossett and fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers.
Earlier today, the suspect turned himself in on a juvenile petition for voluntary manslaughter with additional charges pending. The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time due to his juvenile status.

Victim Identified from Fatal Catalpa Avenue Shooting (November 1, 2021, 11:15 a.m.)
The victim from the fatal shooting that occurred at 4115 Catalpa Avenue on Sunday evening has been identified as J’Michael Dossett, 26 of Georgia. The KPD Violent Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances that led to the shooting. At this time, no suspects have been charged in connection to the shooting. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.

At around 6:30 p.m. tonight, October 31, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a shooting with a victim at a residence in the 4100 block of Catalpa Avenue. Upon arrival at the scene, officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators responded to the scene and are currently in the early stages of the investigation. There are no suspects in custody at this time and the circumstances that led to the shooting are still being investigated. Additional information will be provided when it becomes available.
