Drug and Weapon Arrests for Week of October 25
Over the past week, Knoxville Police Department officers continued their tireless efforts to take illegal guns and deadly narcotics off of the street. In a review of incident reports from Monday, October 25 through Sunday, October 31, officers arrested a total of 55 individuals ranging from 14 to 53 years old for drug or weapon charges, an average of nearly eight per day. Those arrests resulted in 30 felony charges and 135 misdemeanor charges, including seven for possessing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, six for unlawful possession of a weapon, 14 for manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, one for possession of a firearm while under the influence, 18 for outstanding warrants, three for auto theft and two for assault. Those arrests also resulted in the confiscation of 11 firearms that were possessed in violation of state law, nearly 17 grams of presumed heroin, over 43 grams of presumed meth, almost 70 grams of cocaine, over 70 grams of pills, 147 pieces of drug paraphernalia and over 700 grams of marijuana.
KPD officers are committed to keeping Knoxville safe, and are working hard to get illegal firearms and narcotics off of the street. Knox County is nearing its record-high number of drug overdose deaths, and the efforts of officers are a direct attempt to both make a dent in the overdose epidemic and prevent the violent crime that surrounds the distribution of deadly and dangerous narcotics.
Public safety is a shared responsibility, and we want and need the public’s assistance! If you have information regarding the distribution of illegal narcotics or any other criminal activity, East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers is always available. Information can be provided to Crime Stoppers anytime, day or night, by phone at 1-800-222-8477, online at
www.easttnvalleycrimestoppers.org
or via the P3 Tips mobile app. Tipsters will remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward. We encourage any resident with information that could help make the city a little bit safer to contact Crime Stoppers with that information.
