Drug and Weapon Arrests for Week of December 6
As part of the department’s ongoing efforts to prevent violent crime and overdose deaths, Knoxville Police Department officers continued their vigorous efforts to take illegal guns and drugs off the streets of Knoxville this past week.

In a review of KPD incident reports from December 6 through December 12, KPD officers either arrested or charged 44 individuals ranging from 15 to 68 years old for weapon or drug charges over that time frame. The charges from those arrests included two for possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony, five for unlawful possession of a weapon, eight for the manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, two for possession of a stolen firearm, and nine for outstanding warrants.

Those arrests also resulted in the confiscation of seven firearms that were possessed in violation of state law, nearly 21 grams of heroin, 20 grams of meth, almost 10 grams of cocaine, over $7,400 from drug sales and distribution, and over 180 pieces of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, KPD officers seized approximately 700 pounds of marijuana with a street value of over $1,000,000 after stopping a U-Haul truck on Lay Avenue on December 9. An arrest was made as a result of that stop and seizure.

The KPD is deeply committed to the safety and well-being of the Knoxville community, and officers are working tirelessly around the clock to take deadly drugs off the street and guns from those who wish to do harm. As always, we want and need the community’s help in order to make Knoxville as safe as it can possibly be.
