KPD Investigating Fatal Shooting on Atlantic Avenue 
UPDATE: Victim and Suspect Identified from Atlantic Avenue Shooting

The victim and suspect from the fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday afternoon at 930 Atlantic Avenue have been identified.  

The victim has been identified as Jerome Nance, 42 of Knoxville, Tennessee.  

The investigation, being led by Knoxville Police Department Violent Crimes Unit investigators, shows that Johnny McBee, 59 of Knoxville, Tennessee, shot Nance following an argument that had occurred earlier in the day. McBee then fled the scene prior to officer arrival.  

Investigators have obtained warrants charging McBee with first degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a weapon.  

At this time, McBee is not in custody and his whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information regarding McBee’s whereabouts is urged to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers online at www.easttnvalleycrimestoppers.org, by phone at 865-215-7165, or via the P3 Tips mobile app. Tipsters will remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.  

McBee should be considered armed and dangerous, and anyone who see him should not attempt to approach him.

At around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of Atlantic Avenue in reference to a shooting with a victim. Upon arrival, an adult male was located with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation, which is being led by Violent Crimes Unit investigators, is in the preliminary stages. No suspects are in custody at this time. Additional information will be made available as the investigation progresses.
