Drug and Guns Arrests for Week of February 7
During the first full week of February, Knoxville Police Department officers either arrested or charged 61 individuals between the ages of 15 and 73 with either weapon or drug charges as efforts continued to remove deadly drugs and illegally-possessed firearms from the streets of Knoxville.
In a review of KPD incident reports submitted between Monday, February 7 and Sunday, February 13, KPD officers also confiscated at least the following: 14 firearms that were possessed in violation of state law, nearly 10 grams of heroin, over 38 grams of meth, almost 12 grams of cocaine, over a gram of fentanyl, over 45 pills, over six grams of unknown narcotics, and over 300 individual pieces of drug paraphernalia.
The charges from those incidents included six for unlawful possession of a weapon, six for convicted felon in possession of a handgun, nine for manufacture, sale or delivery of a controlled substance, two for auto theft, 29 for outstanding warrants, and two for assault among a multitude of additional charges.
There were a record-high 457 suspected drug overdoses in Knox County in 2021, and another 42 suspected overdose deaths have been reported so far in 2022. KPD officers will continue to work hard to remove the deadly narcotics driving that epidemic from the community. The community can also assist in the efforts of KPD officers to keep Knoxville safe.
