Update on Investigation Into Missing Jeremy Stout
Knoxville Police Department Special Crimes Unit investigators are continuing in their search for 37-year-old Jeremy Stout, who has been missing since May 7, 2022.
On May 7, Stout was scheduled to take a bus from the Greyhound bus stop on Cherry Street to the Kingsport area, where his parents live. It is known that Stout was in the area of the Cherry Street bus stop on May 7. However, Stout never arrived at his intended destination. Despite extensive investigation, it is undetermined if he ever got on the bus or made it to his stop in the Tri-Cities area. There have been no confirmed sightings of Stout since May 7, nor has his family had any contact with him.
On Tuesday, June 28, numerous members of the Knoxville Police Department, including Special Crimes Unit investigators, Search and Rescue Team personnel, and Public Safety Recruits, along with additional resources conducted organized searches of several wooded or marshy areas around I-40 and Cherry Street. The search was initiated based on a tip that was submitted to East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers. A search was also conducted along First Creek in the Magnolia Avenue and Jessamine Street area. Those searches revealed no sign of Stout or evidence related to the case.
Investigators fear the worst and have not ruled out the possibility that foul play was involved in Stout’s disappearance. Investigators are continuing to pursue any and all active leads on the case.
The Special Crimes Unit is requesting for anyone with information regarding Stout’s whereabouts or the circumstances of his disappearance to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can reach Crime Stoppers by phone at 865-215-7165, by text at **TIPS, online at

, or through the P3 Tips mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous and be eligible to receive a cash reward.
