At around 10:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to Chapman Highway at Meridian Road to investigate a motorcycle crash. The motorcyclist, a 21-year-old man, was transported to the UT Medical Center via AMR. Life-saving efforts proved unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the motorcycle was traveling north on Chapman Highway when a vehicle traveling south turned left in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle attempted to stop, causing the motorcycle to flip.
KPD crash reconstruction personnel responded to the scene for further investigation. That investigation remains ongoing at this time.
