KPD Investigating Overnight Fatal Stabbing at Vista Apartments

UPDATE (February 7, 2023, 7:30 a.m.): Mark Venson, 56 of Knoxville, has been charged with second-degree murder in the deadly stabbing that happened on February 6 at the Vista Apartments. It is alleged that Venson stabbed the victim, a 47-year-old man, during a physical altercation. Venson was booked last night at around 7:30 p.m. and remains in custody.

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a fatal stabbing that happened in the overnight hours.

At around 12:05 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2023, KPD officers responded to The Vista Apartments at 938 Hall of Fame Drive. Responding officers located a man on the staircase with multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to the UT Medical Center via AMR, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators are pursuing active leads. The investigation, which is being led by the KPD Violent Crimes Unit, is ongoing.
