Homicide Investigation Launched After Shooting Victim Arrives at UTMC 
UPDATE (May 31, 2020, 1:50 p.m.) 

The victim from the East Knoxville homicide that took place on Saturday, May 30 has been identified as JaQuan Reece, 19, of Knoxville, Tennessee. At around 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, Knoxville Police Department officers received a call from the UT Medical Center indicating that Mr. Reece had arrived in a personal vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of Sunset Avenue and S. Castle Street. KPD Violent Crimes Unit investigators are seeking information regarding the pictured vehicle of interest in connection to the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the incident itself is urged to call the Crime Hotline at 865-215-7212. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

On Saturday, May 30 at approximately 2 p.m., Knoxville Police Department officers received a call from the UT Medical Center indicating that a male victim had arrived in a personal vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Due to information obtained in the preliminary investigation, the shooting is believed to have occurred in the area of Sunset Avenue and S. Castle Street. The suspect allegedly exited a black mid-sized sedan, fired shots and fled the scene. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are urged to please call the Crime Hotline at 865-215-7212.
