Back by Popular Demand: Vintage Knoxville Media Presentation at the East Tn. History Center hosted by City People.
Whether you enjoyed a “night at the movies” at the East Tn. History Center last year or missed out, you’ll want to catch “Knoxstalgia,” an all new visual show, Monday, June 22 at 6 p.m. This event is free to members and guests.
The video presentation features rare Knoxville film and video clips from 1928 through the 1980’s. The footage has been preserved and will be presented by the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound, (TAMIS). Each clip illustrates a different piece of the Knoxville time capsule, according to film archivist, Bradley Reeves. The program is also made possible by the Knox County Public Library.
Knoxstalgia will spotlight scenes from home movie cameras, early television shows, newsreels, and regional music history. Attendees will see interviews with local folk artists Nancy Brennan Strange and RB Morris, along with a rare art film entitled, “In the Street,” by famed author James Agee.
It’s also not a “reel” movie night without snacks and beverages. So, there will be refreshments. And, two groups of ten attendees may tour the TAMIS archives, located in the secret vault, on a first come, first served basis. Sign up for that treat at the event.
The East Tn. History Center is located at 601 South Gay St. Please RSVP to City People by emailing [email protected].
