City Hosts First-Ever National Night Out Kick-Off Celebration

Posted: 08/30/2024
National Night OutAs neighborhoods across the City get set to celebrate National Night Out on October 1, City leaders are gearing up for a city-wide kick-off celebration.

This first-ever event is designed to bring people together in one location, with free food, games, and giveaways in a party-like atmosphere. The Kick-off celebration will also be a great way for families to interact with our police officers and firefighters at our new Public Safety Complex on Huron Street.

The Celebration will start at 4, allowing community members to take part in the kick-off, and (if they choose) to plan their own neighborhood event later that evening.

“We are so excited to be able to offer an event that everyone can attend,” said Mayor Indya Kincannon. “National Night Out is a wonderful way for neighbors to get to know our police officers and firefighters, but not every neighborhood has the means to plan their own celebration. I am excited to take part in this new annual tradition and hope to see people from all over the city having fun together.”

The new National Night Out Kick-off Celebration will be October 1, from 4 p.m.-6 p.m.

As part of National Night Out, the City has also designed a new logo for our festivities.
