Teamwork made the dream work on Wednesday, Jan. 22, as Public Works held a hiring event at the Public Works Service Center.
The goal: draw a respectful number of qualified applicants and make 20 or more conditional offers of employment.
The result: mission accomplished, and then some!
Public Service Director Rachel Butzler reported that, by day's end:
• 154 job seekers attended the event (64 of whom prescheduled interviews, and 90 walked in)
• City staff made 25 conditional offers of employment
• The department banked about 30 qualified candidates to contact as more positions come open in the future.
Multiple departments -- Civil Service, Human Resources, Public Service, and Communications -- worked together to plan, promote and enact this successful event.
Thanks also to the Public Service employees who shared their experiences in
our promo videos -- Ben Buckner, Tammi Tarver, Robbie Flood, Robert Hoofard and Josh Black. Thanks for your time and testimonials.
Go, team!
