On Wednesday, April 20, the University of Tennessee and City of Knoxville dedicated a street to former Women's Athletic Director Joan Cronan.
The street runs from Neyland Drive to the soccer, softball and indoor volleyball facilities. It was formerly called Leinard Lane and has now been renamed Joan Cronan Way.
The volleyball practice facility was also named in Cronan's honor in 2015.
Cronan was Tennessee women's Athletic Director from 1983-2012. She also served in several positions in the NCAA in her four decades of service.
Mayor Madeline Rogero threw out the first pitch to start the Tennessee vs. Furman softball game.
Afterwards, Joan Cronan, Sherri Parker Lee (who is the namesake for the softball stadium) and Mayor Madeline Rogero posed for photos at Joan Cronan Way.
